Student placement – Research Assistant -Cell Biology

Job Details:

This role will be based in London on an Office based working arrangement.

This is an opportunity to join our talented and dedicated biology team at the Discovery Centre laboratories located in the London Business Innovation Centre near King’s Cross London as a placement student and help build a strong foundation for success in your scientific future.

The London-based facility combines our leading drug discovery capabilities and world-class research and development expertise with the best of the regions’ talent and has a mission of turning breakthrough science into meaningful and impactful medicines.​

Duties

  • Carry out experiments on stem cells and glial cells to look at the biochemistry and signaling in neurodegeneration with a particular emphasis on neurogenesis and cellular senescence
  • Support in developing new assays, models, and methods
  • Oral and written communication of data in a clear and concise manner
  • Monitor and review published work to guide internal research
  • Help the team with general laboratory duties, such as ordering and cell line checks

Technical Specifications

  • You will be looking to complete a 12-month student internship as part of your undergraduate degree.
  • Studying a Biological sciences degree (or equivalent qualification)
  • Good understanding of molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry
  • Practical laboratory experience desirable but not essential
  • Understanding of statistical analysis desirable
