Organon in Cramlington, UK is hiring a Senior Specialist to join our Safety & Environment team, based at our world class manufacturing site.This is a great time to join our team as it evolves, to play your part in helping define and deliver the future of Health and Safety at Organon and supporting our business growth.
In this role, you will be providing safety & environmental advice and support as required across all departments at site level. You’ll maintain the practical application of the company safety and environmental management standards, ensuring site systems and procedures deliver compliance with UK legislation.
Essentially self-directing, you’ll be managing diverse workloads and priorities, collaborating cross functionally as well as externally, to deliver an effective EHS efficient support service.
Role responsibilities
- Maintain governance responsibility for critical risk management programs eg. Permit to Work, Loss Prevention and Operational Risk Management .
- Manage and maintain the site risk and regulatory registers, internal management system audits and annual EHS management review.
- Coordinate and drive site or departmental HOSHIN strategic projects as defined by site leadership team.
- Provide expert guidance into any major capital project activity as to the compliance and design standard requirements and ensure that change management is carried out with consistent rigour.
- Undertake/support operational risk assessments of various types as required and maintain oversight of the risk assessment framework.
- Investigate accidents and incidents and determine appropriate corrective/preventative action, as well as compilation, and delivery of accident/incident statistics.
- Maintain and communicate relevant EHS information to relevant site stakeholders eg. chemical hazard data/MSDS, shared learning from peer sites or other general safety awareness information.
- Delivery of the site EHS inspection program, evaluation of findings and effectiveness of CAPA.
- Delivery of site internal audit program in relation to the evaluation, effectiveness, and sustainment of the company EHS standards.
- Perform role of Emergency Controller or Emergency Management Team EHS representative.
Role requirements
- Relevant qualifications and experience in EHS management (Science/Engineering qualification and/or an EHS related discipline such as Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Technology/Sustainability, NEBOSH Diploma level, graduate/post-graduate degree level).
- Knowledge of ISO standards eg. ISO14001 and ISO45001 .
- Membership in Professional Institute eg. IOSH, IEMA, IRM (Tech, Grad or Full Member).
- Relevant technical and operational knowledge. (Pharma sector experience preferred, but not essential).
- Good communication skills, excellent team leadership capabilities and the ability to influence, make decisions and act as a change agent.
