In this role, you will act as a scientific expert as well as planning, designing and leading a team where appropriate for the efficient development and transfer of complex non-regulatory analytical methods. This will involve using a variety of analytical techniques or undertaking original research to develop new techniques in order to establish methods suitable for generating and interpreting scientific data in a timely and cost effective manner. Where necessary you will provide support to other teams within the department, working closely with other Method Development Scientists, Lead Scientists and Analysts to ensure studies are performed according to scientific and technical standards and are in-line with Sponsor requirements.
In more details, you will…
- Perform complex method development/transfer activities/alternative modalities, including method writing and complex method development laboratory work and problem solving (and all associated activities) applying in-depth practical/theoretical knowledge of relevant concepts and techniques.
- Be responsible for decision making based on the data generated and effective communication with internal and external parties to meet and exceed Sponsor requirements. Anticipate problems that may affect timing, quality, delivery etc. and take appropriate action to resolve any issues, ensuring that regulatory requirements are met and additional costs are captured. Take responsibility to share Sponsor feedback to the study team.
- Lead complex troubleshooting across all aspects of the lab (development, validation, and sample analysis)
- Be responsible for ensuring all studies are archived according to current SOP
- Understand financial process and financial/resource issues. Responsible for ensuring all study costs are accurate and up to date.
- Oversee and drive evaluation of existing departmental procedures and systems locally and globally
- Be responsible for organizing and hosting Sponsor visits (internal and external)
- Proactively mentor junior method development scientists thereby promoting talent development.
- Contribute to the generation of scientific papers, which are published in peer reviewed journals, and presented in scientific meetings.
- Contribute to long-range planning and technical policies of the department.

What we’re looking for
Senior Method Development Scientists are the most successful at Labcorp with:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in science plus at least 5+ years of relevant work experience with at least 3+ years of experience performing Bioanalytical method development on ELISA or PhD plus 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- Familiar with the use of standard laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines for specific area.
- Knowledge of automation technologies.
- Effective communication (verbal and written), presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record of troubleshooting relevant technologies.
- Attending technical conferences and exhibits as required.
- Understanding of the drug development process, regulatory requirements and the scientific techniques of Bioanalytical studies required.
