Introduction:

Boeing Global Services is searching for a Senior (Lead) Dangerous Goods Compliance Specialist – Environmental, Health & Safety in Burgess Hill, UK to ensure sites comply with various Dangerous Goods (DG) regulations for Europe.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document strategies to ensure compliance with dangerous goods (DG) regulations, including ADR, ICAO/IATA, IMO/IMDG and others.
  • Perform product DG classification and data maintenance.
  • Acts as the primary interface with regulatory agencies.
  • Conducts information exchanges to partner with operations, sales and procurement to improve related processes.
  • Evaluates new technologies and processes to develop strategies and tactics for minimizing risk.
  • Develops and delivers training and communications, identifies target audience and tracks training records to support regulatory and business requirements.
  • Directs vendor, contractor and supplier activities for EHS DG compliance for site processes and program goals.
  • Leads program reviews, investigates incidents and provides corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of incidents.
  • Perform and support internal audits and take the lead on corrective actions.
  • Provides input to new business opportunities and facilities projects to ensure compliance.
  • Evaluates impact of new regulations on company operations.
  • Directs the review of vendor, contractor and supplier activities for DG compliance for site processes and program goals.
  • Leads the regional program to ensure DG systems and related data are complete and accurate.
  • Leads development of dangerous goods management systems.
  • Develops and provides reports, including annual DGSA reports.
  • Will use multiple systems to support operations with the management of DG and evaluate those systems and related processes and data for effectiveness and accuracy.
  • Work across departments to standardize work, processes, training, tools and systems.
  • Report findings to leadership and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Work directly with regulatory agencies to submit permit approvals and request interpretations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in dangerous goods, regulations and assessments
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as the lead contact with regulatory agencies related to incident investigation and regulatory interpretations
  • Current DGSA accreditation or ability to obtain within one year
  • Availability to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current DG certifications in place with professional accreditation preferred.
  • Aviation industry experience
  • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and effectively work within teams to achieve common goals
  • Team player with the ability to build solid working relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, as well as organizational and time management skills
  • Fluent English language skills (both verbally and written); other language skills (German and French) are a plus
