RIO (Electronic Staff Record ESR) Configuration Lead

The role of the Business Intelligence team is to promote and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge and technology to provide excellent quality clinical care to patients in the Black Country, in conjunction with its partners throughout the wider health community.

  • This role is the lead for the configuration and maintenance of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system in conjunction with other members of the clinical systems team.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage the configuration team and allocate resources so that the team meets internal and external requirements.
  • Provide specialist advice and support on complex software and detailed information and be instrumental in providing developments and requests for change to the clinical systems which impact on the Trust or divisions, in line with Trust policies and procedures.
  • To be the point of contact for second line support to the EPR helpdesk for any queries, complex issues or configuration needs that cannot be addressed on the EPR helpdesk.
  • Investigate complex problems escalated through the escalation system resolving internally or liaising with system provider.
  • Support managers, clinicians, EPR helpdesk and trainers with use of best practice advice, user error, troubleshooting and re-education of clinical systems practice.
  • Work closely with the EPR helpdesk, training, information and performance teams and system suppliers in ensuring that the EPR system meets the requirements of clinicians, divisions, managers and Trust business requirements.
  • Work with information and performance managers to ensure the EPR is configured to nationally and locally defined data sets and reporting requirements.
  • To assist clinicians and teams with process and re-design including the generation of detailed systems requirement specifications.

  • To assist clinicians and teams with process and re-design including the generation of detailed systems requirement specifications.
  • Capture and validate user requirements, work within the EPR team to estimate work impact, agree work package and implement, maintain and support development of the EPR.
  • Attending change control/review meetings to discuss and agree on suggested changes to the system and taking actions from that meeting back to the team.
  • Assisting with the testing and User Acceptance Testing of new versions on the systems, test documents on the system following upgrades to ensure they are working properly and effectively recording the testing results by use of test scripts.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Good level of general education, preferably to Degree level
  • Professional IT qualification or significant experience working in IT application support, data quality reporting, or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in an NHS environment
  • Experience of sharing knowledge
  • Knowledge of EPR Rio configuration and database administration
  • Experience of working in a busy environment and dealing with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing and managing and resolving issues
  • Experience of implementation of projects and/or deliverables within an organisation
  • Experience of working to deadlines and applying concentration and initiative when answering queries from staff and customers
  • Experience of managing problems, providing solutions and communicating complex issues to all levels of staff
  • Experience of working within a pressured environment and applying techniques of prioritisation on a regular basis

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge of EPR Rio configuration and database administration
  • How to provide solutions and communicate complex IT information to non IT staff/customers
  • Understanding of testing, problem solving and communicating complex IT solutions
  • Knowledge of Test Scripts and system testing

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Salary: £35,392.00-£42,618.00 per year
