Principal Piping Designer

Job Details:

We are looking for a Principal Piping Designer with good Plant 3D experience with Oil and Gas and/or Petrochemical projects experience for a permanent position based in Chester. Salary up to £51500 per annum plus overtime and benefits, including re-settlement support. If you have this experience and require Visa sponsorship, this is also available.

Working as the successful Principal Piping Designer, you will have previous experience in a similar role with substantial experience of working as piping designer on Projects. A Dynamic and enthusiastic approach is essential with excellent technical, communication and co-ordination skills.

You will have the ability to work as a team leader in a team environment and be a proven CAD specialist using Autodesk Plant 3D. Use of own car is essential as you may be required to work on site, with an average of 1 overnight visit every 2-3 months to predominantly UK sites

The Principal Piping Designer role will be responsible for producing and coordinating the 3D piping design, creation of plant layouts, isometrics, and generating pipe support drawings for clients as per projects’ needs. This role may involve leading small teams and providing overall supervision and administrative oversight of assigned piping personnel including engineers, designers, and technical specialists within projects.

Main responsibilities include:

*Providing piping design and drafting services for piping systems.

*Using Plant 3D to produce accurate 3D models, isometrics, pipe support drawings and Orthographics.

*Providing supervision and administrative oversight of assigned piping personnel including engineers, designers, and technical specialists within projects.

*Maintain CAD and equipment files.

*Complete ad-hoc visits to client sites and completing site survey activities to gather information.

*Ensure that all drafting and design requirements are met including the correct and timely performance of discipline design tasks.

*Drive the coordination of design criteria with engineering, material, and planning group in accordance with contractual specifications.

*Promotes Quality Control throughout their team ensuring that their team works within the Quality Management System and participates in regular quality audits.

*Support the preparation of enquiry requisitions, bid summaries and purchase requisitions and reviewing vendor data for a wide range of piping equipment.

*Checking of design documents, ensuring that the quality of work performed, complies with technical and quality requirements.

*Technical responsibility for interfacing with other project disciplines, clients and associated contractors and vendors.

*To give due consideration to the company HS&E aspects, including statutory obligations and internal procedures. To be committed to the company HS&E goals and take appropriate action to achieve them and performance objectives.

*Input to progress reporting and planning systems as required.

*Provides necessary guidance on manpower planning and takes responsibility for performance management of the team.

*Promotes innovation, departmental improvement and team working for continuous improvement of knowledge base, cost-consciousness, and Quality and Safety Procedures.

*Promote and participate in continual improvement practices and on-going professional development and training.

*To develop the knowledge base of sub-ordinate designers by completing ad hoc technical toolbox talks and reviews and provide mentoring opportunities to junior designers.

*Assisting Managing Director with business development opportunities and prospects and developing new client business and client retention.

Experience required:

*Experience specifically in Piping Design Engineering.

*A background / knowledge in piping layouts and piping design procedures.

*Knowledge of Industry Piping Codes and materials commonly used.

*Substantial experience in the Oil & Gas industry and/or Petrochemical Industry.

*Proficiency in AutoCAD, Recap, Navisworks, Power Point, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word required.

*Understanding of Designer duties within the CDM requirements.

*Experience in 3D design using Plant 3D.

*Experience in 3D design using Navisworks.
