Job overview
We are looking to recruit a locum consultant in general gynaecology. The post is intended to deal with an increase demand in out-patient and elective activities. This is a fixed term contract for 6 months initially with the possibility of extension. The clinical sessions are flexible and may be either out-patient activity or surgical. The post carries no on-call or obstetric activity.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within the multi–disciplinary team providing, and further developing care of patients in the trust. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff and the subspecialty trainee.

CUH provides more than 100 specialist services and is home to the borough’s only Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services, including a labour ward, midwifery-led birth centre and the Crocus home-birthing team.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post will be based in the dedicated obstetrics and gynaecology department at Croydon University Hospital within Croydon Health Services and other work locations including off site working may be agreed in your Job Plan where appropriate.
Person specification
Qualifications
- Membership of the Royal College of obstetricians and gynaecologist or equivalent
- Name on Specialist Register on date of appointment
- ATSM in Advanced Antenatal care or equivalent
- Full GMC registration
Experience
- Experience in maternal medicine
- Manage benign gynaecology conditions
- Manage high risk obstetric patients
