Role Summary for the Healthcare Assistant:
A Healthcare Assistant, or HCA cares for patients in a hospital, residential care facility or a patients home. Their duties include assisting patients with daily activities, checking vital signs and assisting nursing staff when necessary. Giving personal care including infection prevention and control, food, personal hygiene and overall reassurance, comfort and safety.
The Healthcare Assistant reports to the Director or the line manager

The role is demanding, diverse and involves, but is not limited to;
- Assist with the care of a patient during his/her hospitalisation.
- Monitor and report to Physician and other qualified personnel on patient’s condition.
- Assist in performing routine nursing duties in accordance with guidelines and policies.
- Assist patients in personal grooming, cleaning, and comfort care activities.
- Assist patients in preparing for examinations and treatment sessions.
- Ensure that supplies are at the correct level, of good quality, and within the budget.
- Assist with the transport of patients from one area to another.
- Assist in ensuring smooth flow of daily operations.
- Assisting with daily living activities such as eating, showering and using the toilet
- Utilising equipment to move patients when necessary
- Helping tidy the patients home or room
- Taking the patients vital signs such as blood pressure and temperature
- Talking to patients and reassuring them
- Attending meetings with other healthcare professionals
- Assisting nurses and other staff when needed
- Adhering to professional standards
- Delivering reports to Case Managers and reviewing any important changes in the patients condition

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing health care services in a variety of settings, including an emergency room, clinic or hospital as well as nursing and care homes. The right person will be familiar with the local area, have a high standard of personal hygiene and enjoy helping others. This role also involves cleaning and maintaining medical equipment, and the ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills as well as a keen eye for detail.
Qualifications / Experience
Have demonstrable and successful experience of working successfully in healthcare setups.
