Hardware Design Engineer

£43k – £60k per annum

We are now looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to join our team.

What our Hardware Design Engineer will do

Reporting to the Equipment Development Manager, you will be joining a small team of highly skilled electronic engineers and project managers, supporting the Quality Labs team with delivering advanced test methods for product characterisation and qualification.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Delivering complex hardware solutions for characterisation of power semiconductor devices
  • Working with Project Managers to create design specifications based on stakeholders’ requirements
  • Being responsible for the development of the Hardware, Firmware and Software development activities
  • Creating analogue and digital designs in line with written specifications
  • Communicating project delivery progress with key stakeholders (project management, marketing, test, application)
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers through their activities

What our Hardware Design Engineer will need

Essential

  • Degree in Electronic Engineering and proven experience in hardware design
  • Analogue and digital design experience
  • High Speed and High current design experience
  • Experience in using simulation tools, such as LT Spice, SIMULINK or similar
  • Full hardware product lifecycle experience, from concept to final solution
  • Strong specification writing skills for outsourcing development activities
  • CAD PCB design experience (Schematic and PCB)
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex solutions to less experienced colleagues

Beneficial

  • Knowledge of power semiconductor devices, e.g. MOSFETs, GaN, SiC, IGBT
  • Experience in programming microcontrollers (ARM, ST, TI, PIC) and VHDL coding
  • Ability to project manage activities from delivering plan through to execution, test and release
  • Experience in technical leadership of teams running complex developments
  • Background in designing test equipment
  • LabVIEW programming ability
  • Knowledge of automotive qualification standards and reliability tests (HTRB, H3TRB, IOL etc)
