Transport Scotland, the national transport agency of the Scottish Government, is hiring two finance professionals to join their Finance and Corporate Services (FCS) Directorate:
- 1x Financial Accountant
- 1x Finance Manager
These critical roles offer a unique opportunity to contribute to managing a £3.5 billion annual budget supporting sustainable transport infrastructure, initiatives, and policy across Scotland.
1. Financial Accountant
As a Financial Accountant, you will support external financial reporting, lead balance sheet oversight, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to high-level corporate publications like Transport Scotland’s Annual Report and Accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external use
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS, SPFM, FReM, HMRC, etc.)
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations, VAT, fixed assets, and lease accounting
- Lead process improvements and internal controls
- Supervise and develop junior team members
- Deputize for the Senior Financial Accountant when required
2. Finance Manager
As a Finance Manager, you will act as a business partner, working with directorates to ensure robust financial planning, forecasting, and budgetary control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide financial stewardship and strategic advice across directorates
- Deliver insights on financial performance drivers to improve value-for-money
- Conduct projections, financial modeling, and scenario analysis
- Support budget setting and alignment with Scottish Government priorities
- Deputize for the Finance Business Partner when needed
Who Should Apply
Essential Qualifications:
- Fully qualified CCAB accountant (or equivalent) with current CPD
- Final-stage candidates may be considered for exceptional applications

Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a finance function, with strong data analysis and compliance knowledge
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

- Self-starter with ability to manage workload and meet tight deadlines
