Adoption Tees Valley is seeking a compassionate and driven Education Support Worker to help adopted children achieve the best possible outcomes in education. In this vital role, you’ll work with adoptive families, schools, and social care partners to offer expert guidance, support, and challenge where needed—ensuring adopted children receive the personalised education they deserve.

About the Organisation
Adoption Tees Valley is the Regional Adoption Agency for five local authorities in the Tees Valley. We specialise in matching children with adoptive families and offering outstanding adoption support, especially for sibling groups, older children, and children with additional needs. We are committed to supporting families long after placement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide education-focused support to adopted children, families, and schools
  • Guide schools on trauma-informed, adoption-aware approaches
  • Collaborate with social workers, teachers, and support staff
  • Advocate for educational planning and intervention to ensure stability and progress
  • Lead or contribute to planning meetings to support adopted children’s needs
  • Promote understanding of adoption-related challenges in education settings
  • Encourage schools to implement targeted and appropriate support strategies

Requirements

  • A relevant education qualification
  • Experience working with vulnerable children in educational environments
  • In-depth knowledge of education systems and safeguarding practices
  • Understanding of adoption, attachment, trauma, and related legislation
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement skills

Visa Sponsorship
Visa sponsorship is available through the Skilled Worker Route. Eligible applicants must either currently be studying for a relevant qualification in the UK or have completed their studies in the UK. A Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) can be issued, but applicants are responsible for securing the actual visa.
