Main Responsibilities:
- Lead, shape and develop a growing optical chip R&D team of 20+ technical experts in InP/GaAs/SiP/GaN field, provide both technical and organizational leadership.
- Keep up with industry/technology direction and trends, developing a technology roadmap and a portfolio of products that are differentiated and provide competitive advantage for the company to achieve business objectives.
- Working with technical architecture team and business managers to put influence on HQ technical and business roadmap, discovering the new business opportunities and getting a buy–in from important stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively between the chip development team and wafer fab and internal customer (module and components product development team).
- As the R&D representative of the research platform of IRC, active involvement in networking, establishing relevant contacts in academia and industry, writing proposals for collaboration projects.
- Attract, develop, and retain top talent for the R&D team, while motivating the development team to continually improve their performance.
- Ensuring a detailed understanding of the application, potential photonic solutions and evaluating the pros/cons of each, Performing business analysis and technical risk evaluation of proposed designs/solutions.
- Delegating tasks to design teams and setting priorities.
To be considered for the incredible role you will need the following:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in photonics, with rich experience in the development of Photonic devices. Proven track record of delivering designs which end up in production.
- A detailed understanding of process integration relevant to Photonic devices (either III–V or Silicon photonics)
- Strong management experience with the ability to provide others with clear direction and leadership e.g., lead a project team to cooperate with a team of international experts in different areas including marketing, R&D and standardization.
- Desirable
- Master or PhD in related technical discipline, eg: Opto–Electronics, physics
- A strong sense of creativity aids in the process of thinking of new product ideas and solving problems creatively
- Ability to quickly understand new application areas and product requirements
- Experience as interface between industry, academia, authorities, and institutions in Europe
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Critical and analytical style
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
