Changing thinking and changing policy

The International Growth Centre (IGC) works with policymakers in developing countries to promote inclusive and sustainable growth through pathbreaking research. We generate new evidence and innovative new ideas to improve the productivity of people and firms, as the key driver of sustainable economic development, and to support our government partners in transitioning to low-carbon growth pathways and protecting vulnerable populations.

The IGC is a global research centre with a network of world-leading researchers and a set of resident country teams and initiatives working across Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East. Based at LSE and in partnership with the University of Oxford, the IGC is majority funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

We are seeking an exceptional Director of International Programmes and Impact to provide vision and overall direction for IGC programmatic policy engagement in our partner countries, and to help drive IGC’s strategic thinking as part of the Senior Management Team.

Reporting to the IGC’s Executive Director, you will lead IGC’s impact strategy, providing strategic direction to evaluation and learning to maximise and promote IGC’s policy impact in our partner countries.

You will be responsible for the effective management of our resident country teams and key donor relationships. You will work with some of the world’s top economic growth thinkers in an intellectually challenging, innovative, and collaborative environment and build high trust relationships with key stakeholders. You will bring a passion for delivering policy impact, a dynamic approach to evaluation and learning, a proven ability to inspire colleagues, and an impressive track record of programme delivery.

The position is based in the IGC head office at LSE with flexibility for hybrid work and is offered full time on an open-ended basis, subject to funding. We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities. For this post, we may be able to offer visa sponsorship to the successful candidate.
