Data Manager – Companion Animal

Job Details:

We are a world leader in animal healthcare, monitoring and intelligence. We are looking for a highly talented and motivated Global Data Manager to join the Data Labs team. As a Global Data Manager, you will build data models based on our ever growing Animal Health dataset. You will work closely with R&D, marketing, legal and compliance, to make sure we’re capturing and exposing the right data to the right users. You will be responsible for data quality and integrity, employing latest techniques and tools.

Responsibilities:

– Develop and implement data models revolving around the companion animal.

– Define and enforce data standards, data naming conventions, and data classification schemes for veterinary records, diagnostic data, and research data.

– Collaborate with marketing, veterinary professionals, researchers, data engineers, and data management teams to identify data-related requirements and ensure alignment with animal health objectives.

– Monitor data quality and proactively identify and resolve data issues or anomalies in animal health records and datasets.

– Conduct data profiling, analysis, and validation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of animal health data.

– Establish data documentation and metadata management processes for veterinary records, diagnostic data, and research data.

– Create and maintain data dictionaries, data lineage, and data flow diagrams specific to animal health.

– Collaborate with IT and R&D teams to design and implement data validation rules, data cleansing procedures, and data quality metrics for animal health data.

– Provide guidance and support to veterinary professionals and researchers on data governance best practices and standards in the context of animal health.

– Stay up-to-date with advancements in veterinary medicine, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to animal health data management.

– Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as veterinary organizations or regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance with data standards and guidelines specific to animal health.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, Data Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience working as a Data Steward or in a similar role within the animal health domain.
  • Information architecture – technical – domain:
    • Design data collection strategy and infrastructure (internal /external) – technical & business – domain 
    • Design data sharing strategy and infrastructure (internal /external) – technical & business – domain and cross domain 
    • Design domain and cross-domain information integration – technical – domain and cross domain
  • Domain data automation & intelligence – technical & business – domain
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine and animal health data management principles.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, data integration, and ETL processes in the context of animal health data.
  • Experience with data governance tools and technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret and analyze veterinary records and diagnostic data.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in working with animal health data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with veterinary professionals, researchers, and data management teams.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
