Job Summary

Our Haematology/Oncology ward (12-bedded unit) at Luton & Dunstable Hospital is currently seeking a Clinical Support Worker to assist in delivering high-quality patient care under the guidance of our experienced registered nursing team.

This is a valuable opportunity to join one of the region’s leading NHS Foundation Trusts, where your contribution will directly support patients receiving life-saving treatment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal care to patients including washing, toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance
  • Support clinical staff with the safe and effective running of daily nursing operations
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection control, and patient safety
  • Ensure dignity, privacy, and respect for all patients at all times
  • Accurately document care activities and observations
  • Participate in team discussions and support care planning
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Basic understanding of personal care duties and procedures
  • Demonstrable literacy and numeracy skills
  • Good organisational and teamwork skills
  • Empathetic and respectful approach to patient care
  • Ability to communicate effectively across teams

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health & Social Care
  • Care Certificate (or willingness to complete upon joining)
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or customer care setting

Visa Sponsorship Information
