An exciting opportunity is available for a Clinical Support Worker (CSW) to join the dynamic and compassionate team on Ward 33, a 28-bed Haematology and Teenage Cancer Unit at the Queen Centre, Castle Hill Hospital. You’ll work closely with clinicians to deliver high-quality, hands-on care in a fast-paced acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Support Worker, you will:

  • Assist Registered Nurses and senior staff in delivering direct patient care
  • Perform clinical tasks including phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, urinalysis, and blood culture collection
  • Work within the Trust’s vision and values, ensuring compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Lorenzo EPR and Nerve Centre systems
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals
  • Follow procedures, policies, and training programs with ongoing skill development

Requirements

Essential:

  • Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
  • At least 2 years of recent hospital experience in a patient-facing role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient or willing to train in phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs
  • Adaptability and ability to work in a team

Desirable:

  • Experience in acute care or oncology settings
  • Competence in blood culture collection and urinalysis
  • Good GCSE-level English and Maths
  • Enthusiasm for developing personal skills and supporting colleagues’ learning

To qualify:

  • You must meet UK Home Office visa eligibility requirements
  • A criminal record certificate will be required for any country resided in for 12+ months in the last 10 years
  • Adult dependants are also subject to background checks
