About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring Clinical Support Worker to join the Children’s Centre team at Norwich Community Hospital. This role involves supporting the daily running of community paediatric clinics, conducting pre-clinic assessments, and maintaining high-quality care environments for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Book and conduct pre-clinic appointments including height/weight measurements, general assessments, and initial observations.
  • Assist paediatricians and registered nurses in preparing and maintaining clinical environments.
  • Identify and report any changes in a child’s clinical condition to the nursing team.
  • Support the emotional wellbeing of children and families during appointments.
  • Escort patients to and from other clinical areas when needed.

Administrative Support

  • Schedule follow-up appointments and maintain accurate records in System One, ICE, and other NHS systems.
  • Provide reception cover, answer queries from families, and handle phone calls professionally.
  • Manage stock levels of clinical supplies and equipment; oversee basic infection prevention tasks including toy and room cleaning.

Equipment & Safety

  • Maintain and track medical devices; arrange deliveries and collections from families.
  • Ensure all waste is disposed of in line with trust protocols.
  • Participate in audits and infection control practices under the guidance of registered staff.

Team Communication

  • Communicate clearly with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to shift handovers, team meetings, and daily clinic coordination.
  • Report incidents via Datix and support a culture of learning and improvement.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE Grade 5 or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Care Certificate or equivalent experience in a healthcare support role.

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Child Development.

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or Clinical Support Worker.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Basic IT proficiency and accurate record-keeping skills.
