We are looking for a new Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our ambitious team and ensure the delivery of safe, high quality and effective services. We have a strong reputation locally and regionally for building effective partnerships and we are seeking a Chief Operating Officer who will play a proactive role in developing our successful networks within our ICS in Joined Up Care Derbyshire and with other important partners in the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw ICS. You will have experience in working collaboratively with partners to develop integrated solutions and will bring this to ensure the changing needs of our patient population a met.

We are looking for an inclusive leader who will engage colleagues in the delivery of our vision and empower them to take part in the leadership and wider development of our Trust. You will bring a strong track record of leadership at or near Board level.

Main duties of the job

The COO will have day to day executive leadership responsibility in the Trust for ensuring the successful system wide operational delivery & performance of all clinical and support services, and through such delivery, for supporting health improvement at an individual and population level.

You will play an active role within the Board of Directors and contribute to the overall development and implementation of the Trusts long term vision, strategic direction and governance arrangements

You will work as part of a cohesive team and when necessary to take a lead for corporate issues outside the immediate sphere of responsibility in order to achieve the corporate objectives of the Trust

The COO is the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for the Integrated Care Board (ICB) responsible for the development and delivery of all plans for Urgent & Emergency Care and Critical Care Services across the system.

You will be the Accountable Emergency Officer for the Trust and will also participate in the strategic on call rota.

With a collaborative style, you will have the ability to quickly engage credibly with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally and successfully balance the roles’ professional and corporate portfolio. Person specification

Qualification and Training

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Professional qualification at degree level or equivalent
  • CPD evidence of management/leadership training

Experience

  • Extensive experience at a senior level in an acute NHS environment
  • Demonstrable track record of major achievement through an innovative approach and strong, sensitive leadership
  • Experience of leading complex change within and across organisations
  • Significant experience of financial management and demonstrable evidence of rigorous financial management/control
  • Experience of joint working with other statutory, voluntary or private sector organisations
  • Experience of establishing and applying performance management systems Experience of successful negotiation regarding clinical services and individuals
  • Experience of leading and achieving success in continuous improvement

This role is part of the integrated health and social care community across Derbyshire, where there are many opportunities to work across different locations and providers developing new and different skills.
