Job Overview

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with mental health challenges? Dorset CAMHS is currently recruiting a Mental Health Support Worker to join our Community CAMHS Team in Dorchester and Weymouth. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care and guidance to children, adolescents, and their families.

Key Responsibilities

As a CAMHS Mental Health Support Worker, your duties will include:

  • Providing practical, emotional, and clinical support to children and young people accessing CAMHS services
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised care plans
  • Supporting therapeutic group sessions and 1:1 interventions
  • Conducting assessments and contributing to care evaluations
  • Promoting recovery in home and community environments
  • Recording patient information using electronic health systems (Lorenzo EPR/Nerve Centre)
  • Maintaining safeguarding awareness and following Trust guidelines

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience supporting children and adolescents with mental health conditions
  • Skilled in therapeutic engagement and delivering structured activities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good knowledge of safeguarding protocols
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Care Certificate or NVQ in Health & Social Care
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable:

  • Experience using RiO electronic patient records
  • Supervisory or leadership experience
  • Previous work in community mental health settings
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation or experience making safeguarding referrals
