Job Overview
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with mental health challenges? Dorset CAMHS is currently recruiting a Mental Health Support Worker to join our Community CAMHS Team in Dorchester and Weymouth. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care and guidance to children, adolescents, and their families.

Key Responsibilities
As a CAMHS Mental Health Support Worker, your duties will include:
- Providing practical, emotional, and clinical support to children and young people accessing CAMHS services
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised care plans
- Supporting therapeutic group sessions and 1:1 interventions
- Conducting assessments and contributing to care evaluations
- Promoting recovery in home and community environments
- Recording patient information using electronic health systems (Lorenzo EPR/Nerve Centre)
- Maintaining safeguarding awareness and following Trust guidelines
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience supporting children and adolescents with mental health conditions
- Skilled in therapeutic engagement and delivering structured activities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good knowledge of safeguarding protocols
- Basic computer literacy
- Care Certificate or NVQ in Health & Social Care
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable:
- Experience using RiO electronic patient records
- Supervisory or leadership experience
- Previous work in community mental health settings
- Knowledge of mental health legislation or experience making safeguarding referrals
