Job Details:
We are currently looking for a highly motivated individual to act as a Clinical Fellow (Core) in our Orthopaedic (Orthogeriatric) department to commence 02 August 2023 for 12 months.
The department’s work comprises the perioperative care of fragility fracture patients with particular focus on falls, bone health and medical optimisation for surgery. There are opportunities to further develop experience in caring for patients with dementia and delirium in addition to palliative care. The team work closely with the trauma and orthopaedic surgeons.
This is an exciting time for the department balancing the complexity of patients received as part of our Major Trauma Centre, the development of a fully integrated Orthogeriatric team and the regular elective orthopaedic workload. This is an opportunity to develop the successful applicants in skills required for perioperative care and medical optimisation including an understanding of falls and bone health. Please note this is not a surgical post.
Main duties of the job
The duties of the post include management of trauma and orthopaedic patients on the wards and pre-operative review in ED. The post holder works alongside the other team members in undertaking ward and trauma work and cover duties at Addenbrooke’s Hospital only. Administrative duties comprise discharge summaries.
You will work alongside our expanding Orthogeriatric team dealing with the medical aspects of pre-operative and post-operative medical management of orthopaedic patients. The posts also work closely with our Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgical teams.
In order to be considered for the above position applicants must have evidence of achievement of Foundation Competencies. Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required. Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition. This post may be suitable for those wishing to undertake an “F3” role.
