We are recruiting for a Paediatric Clinical Support Worker who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
To work as part of the Paediatric Team to deliver high quality, family, centred care for children and young people on the Paediatric Unit under the supervision of the senior paediatric team.
Main duties of the job
Understand and adhere to Family Centred Care within the Paediatric Unit
Ensure that all Unit and Hospital policies and guidelines are adhered to. Maintain correct records and reports as per Unit and Hospital policies
Ensure the health, safety and welfare of children, young people and their families and staff at all times
Maintain confidentiality
Maintain at all times a good standard of professional relationships with relatives and visitors
Promote a good relationship with colleagues
Adhere to mandatory Health and Safety Trust requirements

Undertake supervised tasks and procedures linked to the unit competencies which are specific to the immediate care environment
Ensure all documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner
Assist and support children, young people and their families at all times
Promptly report and changes or concerns to a registered nurse
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Evidence of a General Education e.g. GCSE’s or equivalent
- NVQ 2 in Healthcare/QCF Diploma in Health Level 2 or equivalent in area of speciality or an equivalent level of working experience within a similar role
- Care Certificate Programme to be completed over a specified 6 months period, if not obtained prior to commencement
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge and experience of taking clinical observations
- Understanding the requirements of Patient Confidentiality
- Knowledge of Hospital Systems
- Knowledge of Manual Handling of patients, using lifting aids
- Can demonstrate an understanding of the Clinical Support Workers role in the Paediatric Unit
Experience
Essential
- Working with children
- Some experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant in a Hospital or Registered Care setting
- Customer Care Experience
- Commitment to working in partnership with patients/carers
Skills
Essential
- Communication verbal and written
- Ability to follow clear instructions and feed back to senior staff
- Ability to project a professional manner and approach
